An early Japanese translation of poems by Edgar Allan Poe. The translator, Wakameda, also helped to produce a Japanese translation of The Merchant of Venice in 1913 and an English translation of the Tsurezuregusa ("Essays in Idleness") in 1914. This work includes a preface by Wakameda on the distinctive qualities of Poe's poems.
One volume, complete. Original boards, extremities worn, small white stains, cracked. Ex-ownership inscriptions to upper pastedown and front free endpaper. Sticker removals to lower free endpaper.
