Kuretake ["Henon bamboo"]
Ochiai, Naobumi [preface by]; [Ichida, Yaichirō (created and published by)].
[Kyōto: Ichida Shōten, (Meiji 35 (1902))].
An album of woodblock-printed textile designs, probably produced as a catalogue for the publisher: clothing and textile firm Ichida Shōten. The designs are remarkably detailed, and many depict landscapes and use metallic pigments. While the volume lacks the 48 fabric samples found in other copies and the colophon, all 120 woodblock-printed kimono designs are present.
One stab-bound (musubitoji) volume, lacking fabric samples and colophon, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Both original wrappers detached, worn, cracked, soiled, and with losses. Last leaf also detached and with marginal tears not affecting the illustration. Browning, thumbing, creases, marks, offsetting, and occasional foxing to leaves. Most opening edges split. Unpaged. 31 x 21.7 cm
