A collection of short prose pieces by the famed kyōka poet and occasional gesaku author Shakuyakutei Nagane (Kisanji II, 1767-1845), illustrated with three single-page and three double-page colour woodblock printed scenes by Yanagawa Shigenobu II. Shakuyakutei was a leader of poetry groups including the Sugawararen and a descendant of the artist and craftsman Hon'ami Kōetsu (1558-1637). The title panel notes that the book is the 'first series', and a 'second series' volume is known to have been published. The two series may have been published in conjunction with Shakuyakutei eisō kōryō-shū (1833).
