A pamphlet recounting the story of Yoshimasu Takasaburō's conversion to Christianity, by Henry Loomis (1839-1920), a Presbyterian missionary from the US working in Japan. The short work shows through correspondences how after losing his sight Yoshimasu met the 'Nightingale of the Orient' Loduska. J. Wirick (1856-1914), a nurse and missionary from the US who tended to soldiers during the Russo-Japanese War, and was converted by her to Christianity. The Japanese language pamphlet includes pictures of Yoshimasu before and after losing his sight in an explosion in the Russo-Japanese War and mentions a braille machine and braille copy of the Gospel of John. Loomis worked as the head of the Japanese branch of the American Bible Society, the publisher of this work, from 1881.
