An illustrated guidebook to Kyoto, including information on sightseeing locations, temples, shrines, Gion, annual events, lodgings in the city, and so on. Ikeda Tōritei (1788–1857), the editor, was a Kyoto-based author who produced numerous maps of the city.
Two four-hole-bound (yotsumetoji) volumes, complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Original wrappers a little worn and soiled, with small wormholes, ex-ownership stamps, and manuscript notes. Original mounted daisen title panels present. Ex-ownership stamps to first and last page of each volume. Manuscript note to upper pastedowns, ex-ownership inscription to last text page of volume two. Some wormholes, mainly to margins, and occasional small stains internally. Small loss to upper corner of leaf 79, not affecting text. Housed in presumed non-original folding case.
