A somewhat roughly dressed woman peers over her shoulder at a small dog, Ryōgoku Bridge appearing in the aizuri fan-shaped cartouche in the background. The print is from a seemingly little-known series by the ukiyo-e master Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) and the publisher Edoya Matsugorō titled Edo meisho ("Famous places of Edo"). A simple print with a charming theme and beautiful blue hues.
One loose ōban nishiki-e. Wear, creases, browning, and marks to paper. Small chips to extremities. Slight discolouration to lower edge. Four paper mounting strips affixed to verso. 34.7 x 23.4 cm.
