A Taishō period printing of an Ansei era work that compiles simple illustrations of birds, flowers, children, and people partaking in various professions and pastimes. According to the British Museum's online catalogue record for the work, the illustrations were based on Kawamura Bunpō's Bunpō soga ("Rough sketches by Bunpō") and Kitao Masayoshi's Ryakugashiki ("Abbreviated drawing styles") and Jinbutsu ryakugashiki ("How to draw figures simply"). A charming volume of simple and often comical cartoon-like illustrations.
One four-hole-bound (yotsumetoji) volume, complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Ex-ownership stamps to original wrappers. Occasional ex-ownership stamps to margins and creases and minor marks internally. [20] leaves. 22.2 x 15.2 cm.
