The first collection (of five) of this scarce early Japanese work on the buildings designed by the acclaimed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959). The work contains one title leaf, a four-page Japanese translation of "Frank Lloyd Wright" by Erich Mendelsohn (first published in Wasmuths Monatshefte für Baukunst (No. 6 (1926)), and 48 numbered leaves of illustrations. Floorplans (and occasionally drawings and photographic illustrations) of Chicago's Midway Gardens, Mrs. Lowes's Eagle Rock property, the George Madison Millard Pasadena property, the Larkin Soap Co. offices, and so on, are included. This copy is from a printing produced two months after the first printing.
First collection. One portfolio, complete. Portfolio very lightly scuffed; foot slightly mottled. Upper fabric tie lacking. Title to spine gilt. Title leaf and extremities of other leaves browned. A few light marks internally. Small ex-ownership stamps to all leaves, one larger stamp to title leaf. [1 title leaf], 4 p., 48 loose leaves. 25.6 x 19.3 cm.
