[Creator/s unidentified].

[Japan: publisher/s unidentified, ca. late Edo period (1830-50s)?].

Two issues of short amusing tales and jokes produced in the late Edo period by an unidentified publisher. The issues, which have been bound together, each feature several short humorous stories on topics including the Yoshiwara pleasure quarters, telescopes, dogs, cats, Ise Monogatari, and so on. As the illustration on the upper wrapper of one of the issues suggests, the stories were probably originally performed at yose recitals.

Two issues in one karitoji-bound volume, complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Small wormholes and light creases internally. 2; 2 leaves including original upper wrappers. 18.6 x 11.9 cm.
