[Album of works by calligraphers and artists]
Seishū, Baien, Tekiho, Keiho, ... [et al.] [illustrations and calligraphy by].
[Japan, ca. late Meiji to Taishō period (1900-20s)?]. In manuscript.
An album of elegant hand-painted illustrations and calligraphy by a range of little-known Japanese artists and calligraphers. The album contains seven double-page spreads of calligraphy and twenty double-page spreads of illustrations mainly in Nanga and Nihonga styles. At least two of the contributors appear to have been pupils of the Nihonga artist Araki Kanpo (1831-1915). A handwritten list of artists with short biographies has been loosely inserted into the volume but appears to be unrelated to the content of the album.
One gajōsō (concertina-style) volume, complete. Original boards, lightly frayed at extremities. Leaf extremities lightly browned. Occasional minor marks and foxing internally. [Unpaginated]. 24.4 x 18.3 cm.
