[Four single-leaf advertisements]

A set of hikifuda (advertisements) produced for the bookseller Kitagawaya (Saitō Moemon) and the jihon doiya Gusokuya Kahei. The single print produced for Gusokuya includes an illustration titled Nishiki-e seizō no zu ("Illustration of the production of nishiki-e") of block-cutters and printers at work. The three advertisements produced for Kitagawaya feature light-hearted illustrations (one by (Kobayashi) Kiyochika, another by (Morita) Hōtan) and humorous texts; two of these prints include lists of books for sale and their prices.
Four single-leaf prints, browned and creased. Occasional small chips and stains to extremities and fold intersections. One tear to largest sheet, repaired by a previous owner with adhesive. Smallest sheet measures 16.8 x 27.3 cm; largest measures 47.6 x 69.3 cm.
